Summer is coming and the work on your construction job isn’t going to stop because it’s hot out. So now is the time to start finding some accessories that keep you cool, hydrated, and comfortable so you can stay productive. We’ve compiled a list of places you can find cooling accessories with the construction worker in mind.
Ergodyne
Ergodyne carries a lot of construction products, ranging from work gloves to back supports, but that’s for another time. For the summer months, Ergodyne carries a wide array of accessories, such as sweatbands, a large brim and neck shade that attached to your hard hat, cooling vests and hydration packs. The cooling vest (pictured left) maintains a constant 58 degrees for up to 4 hours. The cooling packs can also be removed so you can have another one ready to go after lunch. It even doubles as a safety vest with its bright orange color and reflectors.

Grainger
Grainger has everything, I don’t even know what else to add. They have over 300 different types of cooling accessories made for construction workers, including products spanning from cooling bandanas to thousand dollar cooling vests. We’ll skip the big ticket items and highlight a simple hard hat cooling pad by Condor (pictured left). All you need to do is soak the pad in cold water and place it inside your hardhat for heat relief. Wearing a hard hat is extremely important for your personal safety, but they’re also unforgiving in the heat, this provides some necessary relief for a low cost. There’s also versions that have neck shades attached, as well.

Big Fogg
Big Fogg specializes in misting products, including fans tents, inflatables, and more. Their fans even serve as the misting fans for leagues like the NFL use, so you know you’re getting the best. There are several different types of misting fans to choose from on their site, some with local water storage and pumps and some that have a satellite water source and pump for when you need multiple fans running. At this price, this is more of a business purchase, rather than a personal purchase like the others, but Big Fogg claims their misting fans can lower the temperature by up to 40 degrees. The fan pictured to the left is the Blitz 2400 Model Industrial Grade Misting Fan that promises to create a very fine fog that doesn’t get the your workers or the surrounding area wet.
Last summer, Hilti announced that they had developed their first exoskeleton designed for construction tradespeople in a partnership with Ottobuck, a prosthetics, orthotics, and exoskeleton provider. Earlier this month, Hilti officially released the exoskeleton, announced more details, and published its retail price on their website.
