As mobile apps and project management software are becoming more prominent on construction sites around the world, it’s important that those getting ready to enter the industry, whether it be through college or trade schools, get the training they need to hit the ground running with these programs. PlanGrid,a construction project management and mobile productivity software, has recently announced the release of PlanGrid Schools & Unions, which gives access to hands-on training curriculum and software licenses to industry educators.
PlanGrid for Schools & Unions provides up to 50 free PlanGrid Nailgun licenses to unions, universities, and other educational institutions for their use in the classroom. The Nailgun license, which typically costs $39/month, includes unlimited projects, photos, and documents, but is limited to 550 sheets.
In order to qualify for these licenses, the organization must complete one of three training options:
A Two-Day, on-site Train the Trainer class for up to 5 instructors (Cost: $10,000)
A Remote training with 1 hour of virtual “office hours” (Cost: $500)
Training at PlanGrid’s Headquarters in San Francisco, which is offered periodically (Cost: Free). The next training session is scheduled for Tuesday, January 22, 2019 and you can register here, if interested.
In addition to the licenses, the program also offers educators these resources:
Customizable curriculums and PlanGrid’s latest training materials
Dedicated support chat
Access to a user forum for trade-specific insight
“Construction education has typically focused on traditional methodologies and siloed project management solutions,” said Dr. Kenneth Park, undergraduate construction program director, Aston University, in a press release. “However, as my students prepare for their careers, they want to learn the advanced technologies and tools transforming the industry. In addition to teaching the technical skills, PlanGrid for Schools & Unions helps me introduce the future of construction to the next generation by demonstrating how our traditionally analog and siloed industry can manage processes and collaborate across disciplines with simple software.”
