According to the most recent data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, women only account for 9.9% of the workforce in the United States construction industry. To help drive gender diversity in construction and empower women, a new conference will be making its US debut in September, called Women in Construction USA 2019.
Taking place at the Hyatt Regency in San Francisco on September 18 & 19, Women in Construction USA will feature over 40 sessions and more than 50 speakers over the 2 day event. Expected attendance is around 400 to 500 people from across the country.
While new to the US, the Women in Construction Summit has been successfully running in London, England for two years. The USA summit will mark the first time the event has spread outside of the UK.
The main topics of the conference will include Spotlight on Success, Business Disrupters, Industry Disrupters, Tackling Bias in the Workplace, and Advancing Your Career. The speakers are successful women in construction ranging from executives, directors, project managers, engineers, and more from many of the top construction companies across the US.
Some of the highlights of the event will include:
Noopur Jain, a Regional Delivery Manager for the California High-Speed Rail Authority discussing key strategies to overcoming any professional hurdle,
Rebekah Morlock, a Technical Marketing Engineer at Nucor Steel Yamato presenting on acknowledging and tackling fraudulent feelings, and
Barbara Bouza, a Managing Director at Gensler, highlighting the importance of addressing climate change vulnerabilities to sustain a greener world.
Tickets for the action packed event start at $550, but you can use the code CONSTRUCTIONJUNKIE15 at checkout to secure a 15% off discount.
