On Friday morning, New York City experienced another crane collapse that killed one man and injured 3 others. An onlooker from a nearby building caught the accident on video with his cell phone.

The Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital first opened its doors in 1876 as a 675,000 square foot facility in Morris Plains, New Jersey. At its peak, it served 7,764 patients at one time. The hospital had been completely unoccupied since 2008, when it was ordered to be closed due to poor conditions and overcrowding. The hospital had been marred in the past by extremely overcrowded conditions, reports of sexual abuse of patients by employees, violence, and patient suicides. Demolition began on the deteriorated building in May of 2015 and finished in November of 2015.

The Liebherr T 282 C is one of the largest haul trucks in the world, in terms of payload capacity, and its assembly is no less impressive. In fact, the size of the haul truck requires a tower crane for final assembly. These mining trucks, due to their size, are not built like your normal sedan. There are nearly no stamped parts and every piece is welded together for strength and durability.

It is also an international affair, many of the parts come from Germany, Canada and the United States and the final assembly in this case takes place in Australia. The hauler itself without payload is over 237 tons and with a full load it can reach a total gross vehicle weight of over 600 tons. That means that the Lieberr T 282 C has the payload capacity equal to the weight of a Boeing 747.
