Milwaukee Tool has had a busy year in 2015. They’ve expanded many of the M18 Fuel Power Tool lines to drilling and driving products, released an industry first cordless breaking grinder, released a new 3-in-1 heated ripstop jacket, and released the start of their powerful new tool reporting and customizing application One-Key. Milwaukee has already released phase one of One-Key, the inventory management portion (which you can learn more about here) and have released a set of One-Key enabled crimpers that allow tool reporting, which is phase 2.
With the recent announcement of a line of One-Key Enabled M18 Fuel Drills, Drivers, and Impact Wrenches, the third phase of One-Key, Tool Control, will be released in February.
So what exactly does Tool Control allow you to do?
Create custom profiles for your tools. Just like how newer cars allow you to save your driver’s seat adjustment settings, you can now create settings for your tools and change between them with a click of a button. There are two ways to create profiles: create your own by adjusting speed and torque or select one of the pre-made settings based upon the materials, fasteners and accessories you’re using
Save custom profiles. You’ll no longer need to try to remember the settings you chose for a certain application, as your custom profile will be available to be chosen with the click of a button through the One-Key app.
Get better performance. Milwaukee suggests that these custom profiles will allow you to optimize the performance of your tool, resulting in up to 25% more run time, 50% faster driving speeds, and 4X longer accessory life. The application may also reduce tool stalling and damage to materials.
“This is truly a game-changer for the industry and its professionals,” said Christian Coulis, Vice President of Product Management for Milwaukee Tool in a press release. “We’re, essentially, pushing the boundaries of cordless tools and putting the power to do so in the hands of the people who know their tools best – the users.”
In February 2016, Milwaukee will release (6) power tools that will be compatible with One-Key Tool Control:
