There’s no doubt that building rectangles in construction is much easier than making round objects, which is why building a 366 foot tall sphere in the middle of Las Vegas really caught our eye.
Expected to be completed in 2021, the globe shaped MSG Sphere at the Venetion is currently being constructed in near the Las Vegas strip. Standing 366 feet tall at its highest point and 516 feet wide at its broadest point, the Sphere will hold up to 17,500 people for performances. The main feature of the structure will be the over 160,000 square foot LED screen, promised to be the largest and highest resolution LED screen on the planet.

Los-Angeles based construction firm AECOM is the general contractor on the project and they told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that, at its peak, 1,500 construction jobs will be filled by the massive project.
According to FOX5 Las Vegas, since AECOM started in February, more than 18,000 cubic yards of concrete, 10,000 tons of steel, and 12 million pounds of rebar have already been installed. The building sits on a total site footprint of 18 acres. There are currently six cranes on site, but several more are expected to be added in the future as construction progresses.
