Modular construction has long been touted as the next great way to build – and for good reason. Being able to build off-site, in climate controlled environments has a great deal of benefits. As with any drastic change in building method, though, there are plenty of learning curves, but we’ve noticed many larger cities are investing heavily in the concept, showing that many are still confident that modular has its place.

Modular construction, on paper, should vastly speed up the process of construction as well as increase the quality. Sections or rooms of buildings are pre-assembled in an environmentally controlled room offsite and then shipped to site as needed. In reality, though, there are many challenges that have kept this type of construction from being more popular. That doesn’t scare hotel giant, Marriott, though, as they are currently underway on the world’s tallest modular hotel.

Like it or not pre-manufactured modular construction is coming to America. It has been used in other countries as fast inexpensive housing, but that doesn't make it bad. When most people think of modular housing they think of shipping containers, ugly squares and rectangles, trailer parks in the sky. But that stigma is about to change.
